A lion in the meadow

May 5, 2011

This was one of my favourite books as a child, by legendary New Zealand writer, Margaret Mahy. I loved the idea of an apple-eating lion in the broom cupboard, as well as the dragon who came out of a matchbox. The meadow was a thing of beauty as well — it had long wavy grass and an orchard, and miraculously, the dragon didn’t flame it to a crisp, but lived there peacefully.
